Sunday Salon #1

Yes, this is my first with Sunday Salon, and yes, it's almost Monday...in 35 more minutes. I stayed up last night cheering for the read-a-thon, and have spent most of today bouncing between work responsibilities I've sort of pushed to the side all week (grading essays and such). Yes, also a procrastinator there! However, the weather was so beautiful today that I grabbed Meg Cabot's novel Airhead and went for a walk down to the park. I can't remember the last time I walked, outside (I do it all the time at the gym), with a book in hand. As a young girl who lived down a semi-long dirt road, I would almost always walk with a book in my hands. It became a skill that I actually repeated in graduate school when I would be walking to one of my various lit. classes, knowing I needed to discuss said book that day. (Sigh...there's that procrastination thing again!) Anyway, it was really delightful. Once I got into a good pace, not too fast, not too slow, then I slipped away into my book. I'm not quite finished yet, and I did read for another 30 minutes this evening while having a quick soak in the tub, but I haven't yet picked it back up to finish.

Well, that is my meanderings through what I've read for today. If I can count the 20+ AP essays I've read about the conclusion of The Awakening by Kate Chopin, then we could chat about that as well! :) Until I finish my other book though, have a good night!

  1. I didn't do a Sunday Salon this week, but I usually do!! It's a fun way to find some cool blogs to visit!

Today was rainy and yucky here in the midwest. I'm hoping to be able to walk in the sunshine soon!

The Awakening was NOT one of my favorite books!! Wow 20+ AP essays...sounds like a lot of work!! I envy you though. I would love to be an English teacher!

  3. I love the Sunday Salon! I was too beat yesterday to join, but I normally really enjoy it.

You were an amazing cheerleader during the read-a-thon. Thank you!

  4. Good luck on all those essays...I almost dropped by today to have a little chat, just because I was- get this- worried about my students! I thought about school all day, and watched the clock and hoped everything was okay. And I wanted to see how your break was. Anyway, I went to the doctor today, and there's not progress, but he stripped my membranes (I don't know what that's supposed to mean, but I think it's supposed to help go into labor), but I think I'm here for a while. Makes me feel even more guilty for being home without my students. I don't even like some of them, but I worry about them. Anyway. Let me know if something dire happens...

  5. Stephanie -- Thanks! Teaching has its ups and downs, but we're on the downhill slide, so I'm doing good. Thanks for cheering me on as a teacher! :)

Jessica -- Thanks for the award! I'm definitely a newbie at this, so I'll post on it soon to give you a big thank you. SO KIND!

    Nymeth -- I loved being a cheerleader...it didn't require a little skirt or tight, cut-off top!

Sarah -- We MUST talk! I'm sure it went well, but as always, funny stories. Thank goodness we have state testing so I can get a few things taken care of. Good luck with incubating that baby! :) I can't wait for you to have the baby...and some relief. Call me some time!
