Essay Update

I thought I'd post a quick update to explain my continued inability to get anything written!  My essay count is now down to 72 out of the original 140+.  I still feel a bit buried, but it's MY OWN FAULT for assigning all of this writing and then feeling like I have to give all this feedback.  No need to feel sorry for me.  I just thought I'd share the real reason I have no brain cells to rub together to write a review.  :)

Thanks for your patience!  I've been reading blog posts this past week and have added to my TBR pile.  I hope to be back on writing and corresponding again, soon.

  4. Good luck!

We just finished first semester today and I have been grading essays all week. Sadly I had to bring a huge pile home with me this weekend!

  5. Yet one more reason for smaller class sizes, right? It would definitely make giving helpful feedback both easier and more realistically accomplishable (is that a word? I proclaim it a word! I'm an English teacher...I can do that, right?).

  6. Buckeye Girl--Thanks! It is a ton of work, but it wouldn't be so bad if I could just pace it out. *sigh* :)

Kay, RuralView--Thanks. :) I've run across a few papers that were good here or there--thankfully. I can't wait to have them finished!

Heidenkind--Yea, I wish my TA was qualified to grade these. They're all students, themselves, and in need of more writing assistance! LOL.

Allie--Oh! I hope you finished your stack. I have about 38 left as of today 1/31. I think by the middle of the week I'll have them all graded! Yay!

Read the Book--Yes! Smaller classes make it easier to really evaluate writing. With these large classes, I don't want to assign writing because it's too difficult to grade it all. Love having a teacher back me here! :)

  7. WHY do we do this to ourselves?! On my two snow days this week I spent a total of 16 hours grading all the papers that requested students email me. I had full control of the situation and I CHOSE to assign this work.

I hope you have since graded all those papers and are now living a bit of life for yourself.
